Olympic Torch Run – SF

The Olympic Torch visited SF on 4/9 and we were out shooting a live shot for the CBS Evening News. SF turned out thousands of people to support and to protest the Torch Run. It was a wild scene as Justin Herman Plaza was packed with Chinese supporters and protesters in support of Tibet and Darfur. The SF police protected the runners by diverting the torch run to the opposite side of town away from the throngs.

We were set up in Justin Herman Plaza by the Ferry Building and watched dancers and bands perform against a background of chants and cheers from the protesters.
